Dear members of the GSCN scientific community,
It was an amazing event: 350 scientists met at the GSCN conference in Dresden from 6 - 8 October 2021 and the atmosphere was characterized by great cordiality and joy to finally meet again in person after one and a half years of pandemic (and countless video meetings). "Finally we meet again" was the delighted greeting among friends and colleagues. The special thing about the conference was the overcoming of two hurdles in the run-up: the venture of a real on-site conference in times of a worldwide pandemic and the corona-related cancellation of the Ulm University to the GSCN six weeks before the beginning.
The GSCN then moved the conference to the Center for Regenerative Therapies (CRTD) in Dresden, which fortunately was willing to host the stem cell researchers. With a 2G+ hygiene concept: in addition to double vaccination or recovered status, there was a daily testing requirement, which could be done in the courtyard at mobile Corona testing stations. With great success, the total of 350 stem cell scientists in Dresden were able to meet safely and securely, to meet and exchange ideas, and an intensive culture of lectures and discussions as well as great pleasure in meeting each other was created over the three days. In accordance with the hygiene concept, no more than 300 people attended the conference at any one time.
